In the year of the Eucharist,[Kathleen wrote the following article] let us draw nearer to the “throne of mercy” on earth, trusting that the merciful Jesus will sanctify our families. He is love and mercy itself, from the crib to the Cross, from the Cross to the altar, from the altar to the throne of glory. May Jesus be praised, adored, and worshipped as King of Mercy, and King and Savior of the family. Jesus, I trust in You.
Peace Through Divine Mercy is a lay apostolate founded in New York on the Feast of the Holy Family in 1988 when the late John Cardinal O’Connor blessed Kathleen Keefe’s vision to pray and work for the sancti- fication of families and priests. In 1998 the apostolate was welcomed into the Diocese of Derry, Northern Ireland, by Bishop Séamus Hegarty.
Drawing on two decades of experience as a family counselor, teacher, and mother of seven, including more than a decade in parish evangelization, Kathleen is compiling a comprehensive manual for parishes on healing and sanctifying the family that will be available in 2005. It also includes the formation of lay intercessors to pray for bishops and priests as well as vocations to the priesthood and religious life. In February 2005, the apostolate will introduce its mission in Canada.
Kathleen has authored four books on healing and renewal in the family and intercession for priests: The Image of Mercy, 1996, with Bishop Emilio Allué; Mother of God, Mother of Priests, 2001, on practical solu- tions for healing in the Church; The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary for Bishops and Priests, 2002; The Wound in the Heart of Jesus, 2003, a prayer book for intercessors and priests. In addition, she has written heal- ing services, holy hours, and model parish missions for the sanctification of families.
